Schneider Adds new Wide-angle Digital Cinema Lenses for Mega Screens
Sept 9, 2011 – Schneider Optics announces two new extreme wide-angle digital cinema lenses with extremely short throw ratios. The new DiStar+HD 28mm and DiStar+HD 30.8mm lenses are designed for Series II 4K Texas Instruments DLP Digital Cinema projectors by BARCO, CHRISTIE and NEC.
The DiStar+HD 30.8mm lens has a throw ratio of 1:1 when used in a 4K projector and 1.1:1 when used in a 2K projector. The DiStar+HD 33.6mm lens has a throw ratio of 1.09:1 when used in a 4K projector and 1.2:1 when used in a 2K projector.
All DiStar+HD lenses are f2.5 and each lens is provided with interchangeable high contrast and high brightness apertures. The user can choose which aperture to use based on the particular requirements of each system.
The new DiStar+HD lenses are optimized for 4K projectors with a 1.38” DLP chipset. Designed for the 4K format, they are sharpest digital cinema lenses ever made. However, they also work perfectly with 2K projectors with a 1.2” DLP chipset. Plus, these extraordinary lenses offer brilliant, bright and uniformly illuminated images with huge screen sizes and short throws.
With the two new optics added to the product range, Schneider now offers a suite of 5 wide-angle lenses with throw ratios between 0.8:1 and 1.36:1. Additional lenses will be added to the product range soon.
The DiStar+HD series is built to the same high standards that have made Schneider lenses for film projection world-renowned for superior sharpness, highly efficient light transmission, low distortion, and faithful color rendition. Built for the highest quality performance, the new DiStar+HD lenses are especially designed for theaters presenting on a slightly curved screen. These fixed focal length prime lenses deliver sharpness and detail across the entire screen that a standard zoom lens simply cannot provide.
The DiStar+HD lenses are ideal for max and mega screen movie houses with Texas Instruments DLP chip-based projectors made by Barco, Christie and NEC. Each lens is provided with mounting hardware for 2K projectors and an accessory focusing mount for 4K projectors.
