DPS Inc. Announces Official Launch of DPS Cinema

Bobby Finley III Joins DPS Cinema as VP, Cinema Technologies

Burbank, CA, March 18, 2015:  DPS Inc., the film and TV industry’s premier lighting and entertainment production services company announces the launch of its cinematic services division, DPS Cinema.

With the launch of the DPS Cinema division, DPS Inc. officially debuts its proprietary cinematic technology. DPS Cinema’s Enhanced Environments is a new twist on a classic cinema technology that effortlessly merges acquisition and effects. This technique extends the sightlines of live sets using media (LED, projector, etc.) to seamlessly integrate through proprietary controls on as large a scale as needed, while allowing talent and crew to visualize actual environments, as opposed to working solely on green screen.  Enhanced Environment options include Vehicular Amplification, Set Extension and Mediated Reality.  DPS Cinema’s Enhanced Environments also allow productions to move from daylight to night environments at the touch of a button and is fully customizable.

DPS Cinema is also a principal supplier of the latest in LED lighting solutions for green screen and blue screen. Productions that have already utilized DPS Cinema’s techniques and processes include Gone Girl, Fifty Shades of Grey, Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Nightcrawler, Inherent Vice and more.

In addition, DPS announces the addition of Bobby Finley III to the DPS Cinema division as VP, Cinema Technologies. Finley brings over 35 years of experience in the film and TV industry as a Cinematographer, Lighting Designer, Gaffer and Stage Tech to the DPS Cinema family, with credits including a 20 year tenure at Industrial Light and Magic working with George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg on multiple blockbusters such as the Raiders of the Lost Ark films and The Empire Strikes Back. Finley has also lent his talents to films such as the Men in Black franchise, Forrest Gump, The Matrix Trilogy, Jurassic Park: The Lost World, and others.  “We are thrilled to have Bobby Finley III join DPS Cinema to lead our technology development efforts, says Paul Kobelja, VP, DPS Cinema.  “Through his years of experience developing, adapting and applying lighting techniques for production and visual effects, Bobby brings to DPS Cinema the technical insight to keep pushing the boundaries of motion picture lighting into the future”.
