iPRO LENS SYSTEM is in flux with L.A. photographer Michael Britt

Van Nuys, California, June 10, 2014—As L.A. Photographer Michael Britt embarked upon “In Flux,” an interactive exhibition of downtown L.A. architectural imagery, he added a creative twist by employing his smart phone. “The technological implications of my chosen medium — the iPhone — both color the scene and situate it in time and place,” Britt explains. “An unusual aspect of this photo collection is that all the images in the show are custom mapped with GPS coordinates, extending the viewing experience from inside of the gallery to the actual locations of where the photographs were taken.”

Britt enhanced his collection with high-quality images captured with the iPro Lens System® by professional lens manufacturer, Schneider Optics. iPro offers a choice of add-on lenses — a Macro, Super Wide, Wide Angle, 2X Tele and Fisheye — that bayonet mount to the iPro iPhone case. “The Wide Angle and Super Wide are perfect for capturing the arches and facades of the historic buildings when looking directly up,” he says. “I use the 2X Tele a lot for portraits and to shoot architectural details at the tops of buildings or from across the street.”

The convenience and mobility that the iPro Lens System offers Britt allows him to multitask. “While I’m out shooting, I also walk my very large Akita, so carrying a lot of gear is impractical,” he says. “Being able to hit the streets early in the morning with a set of lenses that fit in my pocket like a roll of quarters, gives me a lot of creative freedom to work on my ‘In Flux’ project.”

Included in the iPro Trio Kit is the multi-functional iPro handle, which stores the lenses when not in use and mounts to the iPro case. “The handle works great when I brace the iPhone against a wall or a street light while perpendicular to the ground,” he says. “This method works well at night or in early morning low-light situations. I use the handle like a mini tripod on the top of curbside newspaper stands. This way, I can stabilize the shot without having to lug around a tripod. I often prop the iPhone against something and use a bluetooth wireless remote to trigger the shutter without having to touch my finger to the screen.”

“In Flux” is the culmination of a three-year project by Michael Britt to reveal the mystery and intrigue of downtown L.A.’s historic architecture at the apex of decay and gentrification. The exhibit runs June 1st to 30th, 2014 at the Gloria Delson Contemporary Arts Gallery: http://michaelbrittphoto.com/influx. On Thursday, June 12, 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the gallery will host the opening reception and monthly DTLA Art Walk. In addition, Britt explains, “I will also be scheduling an artist talk/photo walk at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 29th to take people to the exact locations of the show images, so that they can take their own photos of historic downtown Los Angeles.” The event is free and open to the public.

iPro Lenses are available to fit the iPhone 5, 5S and Samsung Galaxy S4 as well as Apple iPad, iPad mini, mini Retina and iPad Air. For additional iPro information, visit http://www.iprolens.com or contact Schneider Optics, at (818) 766-3715.
