FSND Rota-Grad Filters

Lindsey Optics adds a new twist on FSND filters with its unique range of Brilliant² Rota-Grads. This family of rotating full spectrum graduated neutral density filters fits directly into popular 4×5.65 rod-mounted matte boxes and clip-on style, where rotation of a 4×5.65 filter was uncommon—until now.

New Rota-Grads offer the benefits of FSND technology in a choice of densities, plus a proprietary rotating tray design that adds practical user advantages like minimized filter handling, larger filter aperture, easy alignment and quicker orientation. The unrivaled solution features a 138mm round graduated FSND filter installed in a geared rotating tray mount that fits in a single matte box slot. A geared thumbwheel eases intuitive positioning which can be set with the simple sliding Rota-Lock.

Lindsey’s precision mechanism eases rotation so operators can smoothly emphasize specific areas of a scene by darkening a foreground or a corner of the shot. In addition, aligning the filter’s soft edge grad line on a tilted horizon, mountain slope or scene element has never been easier. Because Rota-Grad’s gentle graduation enables proper exposure balance across an image, even shots with high dynamic range like landscapes with blown out skies can become beautifully exposed with well-defined clouds.

The Brilliant² solution offers a significantly larger aperture than other alternatives, enabling coverage of both large diameter and wide-angle lenses. When compared with the 4-inch aperture of a rectangular 4×5.65” grad filter rotated 45- or 90-degrees, Rota-Grads provide a generous 5.2-inch opening that remains constant—at any rotation angle.

Available in 4 densities:  ND 0.3 (1 stop), ND 0.6 (2 stops), ND 0.9 (3 stops) and ND 1.2 (4 stops) FSND Rota-Grads attenuate the full spectrum of light including UV, visible and infrared. The filters feature both AR and Easy Clean coatings for improved handling. For more information visit: www.lindseyoptics.com
