NAB 2014 Freefly Systems Recap

Freefly Systems saw its NAB 2014 booth mobbed all four days of the broadcasters’ convention over excitement generated by its MōVI M5 3-axis gyro-stabilizer, the MōVI Controller, a glimpse at the new MōVI M15 3-axis gyro-stabilizer for even larger cameras, and new MōVI accessories.

Freefly’s MōVI stabilizers have taken the cinema and video production markets by storm, providing a way for cameras to capture incredibly stable footage handheld and on a variety of shooting platforms. They allow production crews to capture incredibly stable footage without hours of setup and heavy equipment.

Here is a taste of some of the new products, with more to come soon:

MōVI M5

The new MōVI M5 draws on the advanced stabilization technology developed for the MōVI M10 allowing for amazingly smooth footage in even the most demanding situations. The compact form factor and lightweight nature of the MōVI M5 allows camera movement that would have been impossible in the past. With the release of the MōVI M5, Freefly aims to bring big-budget caliber camera moves to a wider range of productions.

Built for DSLRs and other sub-5 pound camera payloads, the MōVI M5 features an advanced design with tool-free easy setup and more versatility in mounting a small camera package. The MōVI M5 is now shipping. Complete information on this product can be found at: http://www.freeflysystems.com/products/moviM5.php

Toad In The Hole Quick Release

Freefly Systems’ Toad In The Hole Quick Release is designed to allow a MōVI stabilizer to be easily mounted to a tripod, Steadicam, MōVI Ring or other carrying device. Its Toad In The Hole name is derived from the novel attachment design, where the ball-shaped Toad is inserted and fastened tight into the Hole. The Toad In The Hole not only makes it quick to attach and detach a MōVI to different support devices, but also allows orienting the MōVI in a variety of angles. It is now shipping.

MōVI Ring

Also on display at the Freefly Systems booth was the new MōVI Ring. The MōVI Ring is a hoop-shaped handle for the MōVI that provides plenty of places to hold on to the stabilizer. The MōVI Ring is proving especially popular for shots where a MōVI is handed from one operator to another during a complex setup. It will begin shipping this summer. ###
